E-Waste Recycling

Today, we’re talking about e-waste. E-waste, or electronic waste, includes computers, phones, TV’s, electric appliances, and batteries. Due to the hazardous components in electronic devices, these items need to be disposed of correctly. Let’s learn how to dispose of common e-waste:

Computers: Best Buy and Staples has computer collection programs. Contact your computer’s producer or distributer to see if they have a takeback program.

Phones and Tablets: Best Buy and Staples has handheld device recycling available. Visit your cellular carrier or device producer to see if they have a credit for recycling your handheld device. Recycle Ann Arbor also accepts these items.

TV’s: Recycle Ann Arbor‘s drop off centers as well as ERG Environmental Services accept TV’s year round. Look for Washtenaw County Cleanup Days for summer recycling events.

Batteries: Rechargeable batteries are accepted at Batteries Plus and Lowe’s. Alkaline batteries are accepted at Washtenaw County Home Toxics

Household Appliances: items like microwaves, fridges, and washers can be brought to Recycle Ann Arbor‘s drop off centers. Visit our Appliance Recycling Guide for more details.

NOTE: none of these items are recyclable at the WWRA. Tanglers, like cords and wires, are also not recyclable at the WWRA.
