Motor Oil is NOT Accepted at the WWRA
Recently, we have received many messages inquiring about motor oil recycling at our facility. Currently, the WWRA does NOT accept motor oil. Motor oil should be brought to a local auto parts store, like Autozone in Chelsea, or to Washtenaw County Home Toxics.
Although the WWRA used to have motor oil recycling at our Werkner Road Facility, we do not offer this service anymore. Do NOT leave motor oil outside of our bins or near the donation center. This is illegal dumping. Leaving these items and any trash in the bins or at the sites may be subject to a $1,000 fine.
We discovered that Google AI recommends the WWRA for motor oil recycling because it is "mentioned on our website." The mention Google AI points to is us saying it is NOT recyclable! Please remember, we are always here to answer your questions on social media, email at wwraeduoutreach@gmail.com, and our office at 734-475-6160. We would love to be your first contact for questions regarding recycling, disposal, and sustainability.
