Creating a Recycling Routine

Creating a consistent Recycling Routine is essential to Recycle Right every time. Here are some steps to take in creating your own:

1) It starts with your purchases: Purchasing products in recyclable packaging is essential to decrease your waste. Thin plastic, mixed material, and Styrofoam packaging is not recyclable and will end up in a landfill. By prioritizing zero waste goods, plastic #1 – #7, cardboard, metal, and glass packaging, you are helping to create a more circular economy.
2) Make sure you’re up to date on recycling education: knowledge is our best defense against recycling contamination. By staying up to date on our website, social medias, and contacting us with any questions, you can prevent waste. Send us a direct message on social media or email wwraeduoutreach@gmail.com
3) But first, you have to collect it: Place a recycling bin next to your trash cans to make recycling as seamless as possible. You can even print out this flyer to keep a handy guide nearby.
4) Perform an Audit: Have you ever looked through your recycling to see what’s in there? Performing regular recycling audits helps keep contaminates out of our recycling and helps identify areas to improve. Learn more about recycling audits here
5) Lastly, pass it to us: Set aside a specific time in your schedule to visit a WWRA drop off center regularly. Even if you have a curbside bin, you will need to visit a drop off center to recycle glass!

Consistency and convenience is key. What’s your recycling routine?
