Are Pans Recyclable?
A recycler recently asked, “Can I recycle cast iron, nonstick, or ceramic pans?”
The answer is NO! Cookware is not recyclable at the WWRA. Instead, consider these options for pan disposal:
Donate: Donate unused cookware to your local thrift store or give them away in a local Facebook group
Scrap: Cast iron skillets can be scrapped at your local scrap yard or Recycle Ann Arbor’s drop off locations
Restore: Many pans just need some elbow grease to make them as good as new. Before you dispose of an old pan, try to restore it! Burnt on food and rust can be removed with the proper tools. Visit the links below for some ideas:
Dispose: If your item is unusable and cannot be donated, please dispose of it in the trash. Remember to keep contaminates out of the WWRA’s bins!
