Appliance Recycling

Where can I recycle large appliances? Appliances, like computers, microwaves, toasters, refrigerators, or washers are NOT recyclable at the WWRA. These items should not be left outside WWRA bins and need to be disposed of correctly. Leaving these items at WWRA bins is considered illegal dumping. Learn more about illegal dumping by clicking here.

Instead, Washtenaw County has many disposal options for large and small appliances. If your appliance is in working condition, consider donating it to a local thrift store or Habitat for Humanity ReStore. If your appliance is unable to be donated, we recommend visiting Washtenaw County’s Guide to Appliance Disposal.

The Chelsea Waste Transfer Station may take your item for a small fee. The Transfer station is a separate entity from the WWRA. Visit their website by clicking here.
