Tips for a Low Waste Gathering
Gathering with friends and family tends to generate more waste than usual. This weekend, consider these tips to reduce waste for graduation parties, memorial day cookouts, or your upcoming event.
1) Have a designated recycling bin that is placed next to your trash bin. Print out this helpful flyer so your guests know what can and cannot be recycled
2) Avoid single use plates, napkins, cups, and silverware. These items are not recyclable. Instead, consider using your everyday dishes or serving finger-foods.
3) Only make what can be eaten. It can be easy to overcook for events. Coordinate with your other guests to ensure there is not an excess of food.
4) Consider the footprint of the foods you are serving. Choose sustainable foods that come packaged in recyclable or low waste packaging.
