National Jiffy Mix Day Recycling Tips

It's #NationalJIFFYMixDay! On October 1st, we're celebrating a Chelsea staple by giving our "Jiffy" Recycling Tips! Visit Jiffy's website for more information about Jiffy recycling.

First, lets talk about baking supplies. The WWRA accepts clean and dry tin foil (collect and create a tin foil ball), tin foil packaging, like cream cheese and yogurt lids (add to your tin foil ball), cardboard and plastic egg cartons, plastic milk cartons, and spray cooking oil (empty). Remember- every item needs to be cleaned and emptied before recycling.

The WWRA does NOT accept parchment paper, butter wrappers, saran wrap, foam egg cartons, LOOSE or DIRTY tin foil, and mixed Material Bags lined with metal or plastic.

Jiffy's classic blue box IS recyclable at the WWRA, and is made of 100% recycled materials. The internal plastic bag, however, is NOT recyclable at the WWRA. Do NOT recycle thin plastics, as these become tangled in our recycling equipment. Instead, find a thin plastic collection site near you.

What's your favorite Jiffy mix? Pro tip: you can modify the raspberry muffin mix to make some great raspberry pancakes!
