Plastic Recycling Mistakes: OOPS!

As an avid recycler, you may already know what plastics can be recycled. You already make a habit of emptying and rinsing all containers before replacing their caps. You may know how to look for recycling codes #1 - #7, and visit our page on the Plastic Numbering System if you have any questions. But what plastics CAN'T be recycled? Here are some common unrecyclable plastics we see in our recycling stream:

1) Do not bag recyclables in plastic grocery bags or trash bags.
2) Do not recycle plastic grocery bags or trash bags.
3) Do not recycle Tanglers, Hoses, Cords, or Chains.
4) Do not recycle plastic flatware or straws.
5) Do not recycle food, liquids, or containers with food or product residue.
