How does Recycling help the Environment?
Every item we recycle helps to maintain and protect our environment. Recycling, along with reduction and reuse, helps to conserve our resources and reduce our waste.
RECYCLING reduces waste: The EPA estimates that around 70 million tons of waste is recycled in the US every year. This waste is being diverted from landfill and avoids ending up in our ecosystem as litter.
RECYCLING reduces pollution. From a recycled product’s cradle to grave, recycled materials are less pollutive than new, or “virgin,” materials.
RECYCLING conserves resources. When products are correctly recycled, there is no need to mine for more metal, extract more oil for plastics, or create more glass. Closing the production loop by recycling is essential for conserving natural resources.
RECYCLING creates domestic jobs. Our WWRA employees work hard to ensure our waste is properly cared for. To learn more about WWRA employment, email wwrafacilitymanager@gmail.com.
