Success story: WWRA in a joint venture with the Chelsea Fair Committee implemented a plastic bottle recycling program during the fair days for 2008. WWRA supplied 55 gallon recycling containers throughout the fair grounds and collected an estimated 8,000 plastic bottles. WWRA is already looking at next year to increase its collection capabilities to double the amount of recyclable materials in 2009. WWRAs goal is to have local events such as the Fair recycle 100%. WWRA has supported 10 such events this summer and collected 22,000 plastic bottles to date. We need the publics help and assistance at these events, utilize the recycling containers, otherwise this material will end up in landfills somewhere.
