The Washtenaw County 4the annual all inclusive waste diversion and recycling collection Clean Up Day was held on Saturday May 2nd 2009 at the Western Washtenaw Recycling Authority and the Chelsea Transfer Station at 8025 Werkner Raod, Chelsea MI 48118.
Direct sponsorship dollars for this event were provided by the following townships, Dexter Township $1000, Lyndon Township $500. Western Washtenaw Recycling Authority donated labor cost for eight of it\'s people for the event. Citizens donated $4,300 to help sustain this event and Washtenaw County picked the balance of the cost to have the material recycled.

- 1,071 lbs of pesticides
- 15 lbs of mercury
- 741lbs of batteries
- 219 CFL'ss

- 156 Computers/Monitors
- 42 Printers
- 112 Cell Phones
- 34.06 Tons of Construction Waste and Demolition Material
- 15.5 Tons of Trash, Furniture and carpet
- 789 Vehicles were processed
- 1000 gallons of used recyclable oils used to heat the WWRA facility.
Volunteers from Dexter Township, Lyndon Township, Bridgewater, Manchester and Lima Townships help support this event.
This is a great event to help protect the environment and saving landfill space.
